Its totally out of my control Sad

This could go on for weeks. I've tried to migrate the forum to another resilient host and it has been a total nightmare, especially seeing as i'm so busy at work at the moment...

bear with me, apologies.

Andy

No problem. It's not like we're exactly keeping you in the style to which you have become accustomed....

good news, i think Dance

I have managed to migrate my other forum to the new service. This was a much smaller forum so im going to use them as guinea pigs! www.tawdft.co.uk if you are interested. Just waiting for DNS to propogate around the world and it should be in use by all.

To be honest, their site is a lot simpler to set up than this but ive learned a few lessons which should help along the way.

Cheers

andy

sounds promising Andy, I'll give 'the other' site a try later smile

I guess your following the old adage "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again" rather than the alternative give up method Laugh Thumbs Up

Have you been out with your pliers and wire-cutters, splicing into the national grid the other side of the meter to save paying the lecky? Laugh

Good stuff, Andy - thanks for all your hard work. smile

Well you may well have noticed that we keep losing the old server, its stuck in a cupboard in a dark dark room.... it kept losing power!

I've moved the service on to a new server with more bandwidth that you could wave a rather large stick at, 10G/s Wink

1. Stick with the default (limited) list of smilies 1 / 11%
2. Try get smile list back as close as possible to what is was before 6 / 67%
3. A few more (3 to 7) but not as ott as before 0 / 0%

thats the IP address the post was made from and you lot (and the wider internet) shouldn't be seeing them - FIXED smile

I haven't got round to sorting the banner out yet cos I've forgotten exactly how i did it before but I'll get there in the end.

As you can see we're back to the standard fudforum list of smilies. Do we really need more smilies or are smilies over used? Poll added as this needs to follow a democratic process before I decide Wink

I think any additional smilies should be down to the person who's posting if he has them and not a massive list on the forum. Grin
