Not as if he needs it though Kak' has to be more than that surely.

I do take Pipes point about the love of the sport, but at that level he will soon fall out of favour before it gets too messy.
You have to understand two things media don't like reporting about Rossi.

1)He accumulated a lot of back taxes and fines in Italy which still need to be paid off. This was due to him leaving his finances to his father and a childhood friend instead of simply hiring a professional accounting firm. Genius rider? Absolutely. But common sense? Not so much.
2)He has a large entourage of relatives and hanger-on's that need to be fed. Wink

So while he has a lot of money it's not as much as the huge salaries and sponsorships he has raked up would lead one to believe.

To this it must be added DORNA has painted itself in a corner. They just need Rossi because of the Americanization of the series: with bike performances being flattened by decree and the pilot mills in Spain churning out immensely fast riders with as much personality as a pencil a man like Rossi, with both charisma and great communication skills, is worth his weight in gold and then some.
