Hi all, I'm new hear and looking for some NC29 advice with regards to my gearbox and 2nd gear. It seems to be slipping or jumping while in second gear a couple of time while in the higher rev range. Only does it in 2nd gear, and doesn't just out of gear.

Has anyone experienced this before and fixed it?

Cheers Daniel

If you experience the problem only occasionally, it's nothing to worry about. It can happen. smile

However if the problem is frequent, and the bike jumps out of gear often you have a gearbox problem. The NC29 is well known to wear the shift forks (dog legs or merely "dogs" for old-timers) in the second and sixth gear, and you notice that at high rpm.
This is an engine out job: the crankcase needs to be split open to get to the gearbox.

I honestly have no idea if brand new gearbox components for these bikes are still available: the bike has been out of production for so long if anything is available is NOS. Buying from a breaker's may be an option... provided you don't land a shift fork as worn out as yours is. Wink
