Apart from the work invovled, I love old houses. The workmanship is just something you don't get today.
Those Georgians loved to hide hinges away, under about 13 layers of paint (no joke) I found these hand made probably by blacksmith hinges, the other part of the hinge was behind the architrave now removed. I've spent all day stripping paint off, it's been torture. There is a lot of paint to take off, the panelling in the doorway is hard enough, it's so thick it turns to chewing gum with the heat gun. Sad

The majority of the walls are salvagable, a couple of them will be skimmed, floor is going to get sandedm wallpaper still to be chosen.

Wink

I like it, how did you achieve the mottled green & white effect on the walls? RollEyes

Wallpaper for the floor? I'll have to google that cos it sounds like your not grasping a key part of the word in wallpaper

I'm not sure Kermit, but you won't find it in B&Q. Wink

It's the layers that are the hard work bud for sure, the paint is just so thick it is taking twice as long to get off.

I've got the door off and working on that today, all the paint is off one side and now sanding it back. What really seems a waste is the fact I'm painting it all again once it's done. Laugh RollEyes

The wood though will regain its definition to the mouldings, that's what you couldn't see because of the layers of paint. It will be worth it in the end, but I hate the process in getting there. Sad

Dead right Kermit, in my defence, I did go club racing for two years during that period as we know. Grin Priorities and all that!

Here you go Phil, not too many pics, and the room isn't yet finished, but it's getting there.

I can't tell you how much work it has been, not just the walls, but the coving, the windows and the shutters, this house is very old if you remember and there must have been 100years worth of paint on everything, I never want to do this level of work ever again. Wall
