I've done this in the past but it was a case of finding someone in the motor trade whose got access to the DVLA database and can do a search based on the VIN. I'm not sure if anyone here has that access but I think its fairly common for most motor/bike dealers to have that sort of access.

or apparently if you fill in a V62 form, send it to DVLA with a cheque for £25 and a short explanation of the circumstances if its in their database, they'll sort it

Good old DVLA …. Always a bill for information that should be free. Like councils with surveys … They get money everytime somebody moves house for the same info … wankers lol

Used to be abe to do it on the MoT database. Imput the VIN and see the last MoT.
Think that only now works if the vehicle was tested at that particular station.

Think its possible to get a vehicle check on the VIN which could reveal the reg. Worth looking into??
